What is Emsella?
When we speak about treating erectile dysfunction, there is one common concern, wanting to avoid medication as a treatment path - and we agree!
Our goal with using EMSELLA x BTL, is to naturally treat Erectile Dysfunction by re-educating and restoring neuromuscular control of the male pelvic floor - therefore improving the function of the surrounding muscles and organs (i.e. the urinary sphincter, urethra, bladder).
EMSELLA uses high-intensity focused electromagnetic (HIFEM) energy to stimulate muscle contractions, and increase blood flow to the pelvic floor region. By enhancing the muscle tone and neuromuscular control in the pelvic floor, EMSELLA can assist to treat symptoms of erectile dysfunction, including rigidity and hardness, increased control and duration of erections, improved sensation and reduced premature ejaculation.

Who is the ideal candidate for Emsella?

Symptomatically, erectile dysfunction includes the lack of ability to achieve or sustain an erection, premature ejaculation or reduced sensation.

Premature ejaculation is defined as with ejaculation occurs sooner than a man, or his intimate partner, would like during sexual intimacy. This is typically defined within a period of time (2-3 minutes).

Reduced sensation can lead to increased anxiety, reduce the ability to maintain an erection and lead to sexual dissatisfaction for the sufferer.
Treatment
An initial EMSELLA treatment is between 6-8 treatments (2 per week) with our EMSELLA chair in our Wangaratta or Albury Clinic.
The beauty of EMSELLA is that it is non-invasive, so you can sit back, enjoy a hot cup of tea and relax while our EMSELLA chair takes care of the hard work.
Clients will be able to feel immediate difference* in the treated area following the treatment. Optimal results are seen after completing the entire course duration, with symptoms gradually improving 2-4 weeks following your last session.
Maintenance is required over time. As we know, muscle mass will decrease when it is not being used as often. Within 3-6 months you may find a follow-up session is required, and this could be between 1-4 sessions depending on your individual circumstances.

BTL Aesthetics Technology
EMSELLA by BTL aims to treat erectile dysfunction by using high-intensity focused electromagnetic (HIFEM) energy, to restore client’s control of their bladder and pelvic floor muscles, increasing their overall sexual satisfaction.
Ultrasound waves are emitted to induce thousands of supramaximal pelvic floor contractions. A weakened pelvic floor can lead to reduced sexual satisfaction, including ejaculatory disorders and difficultly maintaining an erection. By stimulating contractions in the pelvic floor, we aim to strengthen the muscles (think of it like a work out, for your pelvic floor).
Pelvic floor muscles are strengthened, improving the changes of achieving and maintaining erections without the need to impotence supplements, or medication.
Additionally, other mens’ health concerns can be targeted including those who have undergone a prostatectomy or radiotherapy and suffer erectile dysfunction as a result. The Emsella Journey
On the day
Erectile dysfunction treatment begins on the day of your first appointment, by sitting in our comfortable EMSELLA chair.
On the day of treatment, we recommend wearing loosely fitted clothing to help achieve the best positioning during your treatment. Our trained staff will assist with getting into optimal positioning.
When the treatment starts, you will feel tingling and vibrations in your pelvic floor muscles from our EMSELLA chair. This treatment is entirely comfortable and tolerable - but our clinicians will help navigate any concerns.
Treatment will take 30 minutes, so take time to relax, enjoy a hot cuppa and a chat with our clinical team.
Before & after
No preparation OR aftercare is required from EMSELLA treatments. Due to the treatment being entirely non-invasive, there is also no downtime.
Common EMSELLA side effects include, but are not limited too: muscle soreness in the pelvic area, slight lower back pain or muscle spasm. We would expect this is temporary and resolves quickly after your session ends.
Maintenance
Just like any muscle group, pelvic floor muscles require regular exercise to maintain strength and tone. Maintaining a healthy lifestyle and regular exercise will be key to maintaining results.
The great news about EMSELLA treatment is you will never regress to where you started, however we recommend scheduling regular maintenance sessions to continue to enjoy the benefits of a strong, healthy pelvic floor.

EMSELLA by BTL is suitable for men with mild to moderate erectile dysfunction; although benefits may be seen in men with more severe cases when used in combination with other treatments.
BTL EMSELLA is not suitable for individuals with certain medical conditions or devices including pacemakers or metal implants in the pelvic region. This is always discussed prior to treatment in our complimentary consultation.

A treatment course can vary depending on the level of pelvic floor dysfunction. In most cases, we believe a starting point of 6 sessions is the best option.
We will check in with you during this time and get feedback to ensure the number of treatments is optimal.
Follow up sessions may be required depending on muscle laxity and degradation over time. Muscle tone and strength will be lost when the muscles are not used (this is a normal human process) and over time symptoms of incontinence may resume. Maintenance sessions will be discussed at your consultation.

We generally expect to see improvement in the pelvic floor function after each treatment. That is due to the rapid strengthening that occurs during your 28-minute treatment.
Optimal results may not be felt until 2-3 weeks after your final treatment.
