What is Emsella?
Your pelvic floor is super important, regardless of where you in life. However, it is susceptible to losing tone through aging factors, child birth and menopause; meaning that our once supportive pelvic floor can no longer sufficiently support the pelvic organs. Once that pelvic support system goes, we can experience urge incontinence and stress incontinence.
Our state-of-the-art EMSELLA chair is designed to treat urinary incontinence by targetting the pelvic floor muscles through electromagnetic (HIFEM) energy. The treatment is entirely non-invasive, meaning you can relax while our treatment delivers the equivalent of 11,000 supramaximal contractions.
The concept behind EMSELLA is to strengthen and “re-educate” the pelvic muscles in the same way traditional kegal exercises would.

Who is the ideal candidate for Emsella?
Treatment
An initial EMSELLA treatment is between 6-8 treatments (2 per week) with our EMSELLA chair in our Wangaratta or Albury Clinic.
The beauty of EMSELLA is that it is non-invasive, so you can sit back, enjoy a hot cup of tea and relax while our EMSELLA chair takes care of the hard work.
Clients will be able to feel immediate difference* in the treated area following the treatment. Optimal results are seen after completing the entire course duration, with symptoms gradually improving 2-4 weeks following your last session.
Maintenance is required over time. As we know, muscle mass will decrease when it is not being used as often. Within 3-6 months you may find a follow-up session is required, and this could be between 1-4 sessions depending on your individual circumstances.

The Emsella Journey
On the day
Urinary incontinence treatment begins on the day of your first appointment, by sitting in our comfortable EMSELLA chair.
On the day of treatment, we recommend wearing loosely fitted clothing to help achieve the best positioning during your treatment. Our trained staff will assist with getting into optimal positioning.
When the treatment starts, you will feel tingling and vibrations in your pelvic floor muscles from our EMSELLA chair. This treatment is entirely comfortable and tolerable - but our clinicians will help navigate any concerns.
Treatment will take 30 minutes, so take time to relax, enjoy a hot cuppa and a chat with our clinical team.
Aftercare… who is she?
No preparation OR aftercare is required from EMSELLA treatments. Due to the treatment being entirely non-invasive, there is also no downtime.
Common EMSELLA side effects include, but are not limited too: muscle soreness in the pelvic area, slight lower back pain or muscle spasm. We would expect this is temporary and resolves quickly after your session ends.
Maintenance
Just like any muscle group, pelvic floor muscles require regular exercise to maintain strength and tone. Maintaining a healthy lifestyle and regular exercise will be key to maintaining results.
The great news about EMSELLA treatment is you will never regress to where you started, however we recommend scheduling regular maintenance sessions to continue to enjoy the benefits of a strong, healthy pelvic floor.

EMSELLA by BTL is suitable for both women and men, experiencing urinary incontinence associated with pelvic floor weakness, including stress incontinence, urge incontinence and mixed incontinence.
The specialist pelvic floor chair may be beneficial for individuals with symptoms of "small bladder" (also known as bladder overactivity, or reduced bladder capacity).
BTL EMSELLA is not suitable for individuals with certain medical conditions or devices including pacemakers or metal implants in the pelvic region. This is always discussed prior to treatment in our complimentary consultation.

A treatment course can vary depending on the level of pelvic floor dysfunction. In most cases, we believe a starting point of 6 sessions is the best option.
We will check in with you during this time and get feedback to ensure the number of treatments is optimal.
Follow up sessions may be required depending on muscle laxity and degradation over time. Muscle tone and strength will be lost when the muscles are not used (this is a normal human process) and over time symptoms of incontinence may resume. Maintenance sessions will be discussed at your consultation.
